The PLAYA Reethi is the second and latest shirt in the Maldives Collection. An all white, ultra lightweight organic cotton beach shirt that feels blissful on your skin.
When the PLAYA team arrived at Reethi Faru, an idyllic resort on the Maldives Filaidhoo island, their shared passion for sustainability and their status as a “bio-luxury resort” made it clear we were kindred spirits. We were destined to join forces…Thus the Reethi shirt was born.
The Reethi shirt is made of our thinnest peshtemal yet, towelling you as you emerge from the beautiful azure lagoons that surround the island, whilst also looking stylish enough for your evening dinner date at Dhiyavaru.
The shirts namesake, The Reethi Faru resort, balances the ecological needs of their surroundings, with the luxurious experiences that they provide their guests. They are active in tracking and monitoring Manta Ray and Turtle populations in the local area, as well as having a hugely successful Coral Restoration programme creating the “Reethi Gardens”. Artificial reefs are used to salvage the surrounding corals that have been bleached through climate change or natural storms. They have also been successfully growing hydroponic vegetables for themselves and the surrounding islands, even using these ingredients in their fine dining restaurants, fully embodying the concept of Bio-Luxury.
If you ever find yourself at the Reethi Faru resort, visit the PLAYA London Palm tree planted by us on the island to memorialise our time there. And remember to talk to the Playa Palm, and tell it your secrets, so that it can grow as tall as the others on the island! We are pretty sure that’s how it works.
